A sleepy day

Wanted to finish up stuff today, but was rather tired and.... well.... lazy ba. i guess. Woke up, typed a bit of the FYP report, then went for swimming at 11 with yx and dawn. Unfortuately, someone had booked the swimming pool for some experiments so... we went for lunch at can 2 instead.

Very hot and humid weather made me rather sleepy, so instead of finishing up fast, it took me a long time before i completed the corrections to my 1st draft of FYP report. So finally, i have completed the entire report and the corrections and formatting, with a grand total of 84 pages. Now am wondering if i want to include a few more details into the report, think they may be important, but rather sianz liao cos it is time to change my attention to the upcoming examinations, so only left about 16 days to study for it. Well, see if tomorrow i get any inspiration to add what i wish to add to the report, else it will be time to move on, still have the presentation to think about.

Still raining out there, and to think we agreed to delay our swim to 5 pm, looks like luck is not in our favour. Now, its time to hit the books... or rather more like hit the notes. =P

Well, heres a picture of my table, with the books which i had actually read through, except for about 2~3 books which i only read the relevant chapters. If you think the photo is rigged, you are slightly correct, cos i turned the books for this photo so that their spines are visible for this shot... else how can i see the computer screen? =P

2 down, one to go ...

Was very tied up the past 2~3 days, as was in preparation for the presentation yesterday and also the QA project. Met up with the presentation group twice, once on tues and again on Wed night. For both nights, stayed till quite late for everyone to get prepared and rehearsed for the actual presentation.

So, yesterday morning, we presented our topic of cultural differences, i would say all had improved in their presentation since the 1st time they did it on Tues night. And it all went quite well, except for a little hic-cup for some. Dawn's accidental hit on the bell at 3 mins 20 secs instead of 4 mins was also rather funny. Am rather pleased with my presentation, except i will need more pictures in my slides and speech clarity. heh =P

Also completed the QA project, understanding the concepts at the last minute. Looks like i have to start studying for exams soon... already late by 1~2 weeks liao. In previous semsters, started studying 4 weeks before exams, now it is slightly more than 2 weeks to go, and i have yet to find time to study. FYP would be 10 AUs worth at the end of the sem. hahaha

Oh... Butler returned me my 1st draft of FYP report, had just completed making the admendments, now i have to find out how to get my document all in UK english, cos apparantly, mine have spellings from UK and US (mainly due to spell check actually) cos my spelling quite sucky. xP

So the only project left is the visualisation project.. hope can finish it by next week. the countdown to exams is ticking louder and louder liao. =P

Oh well, back to typing the report, and looks like i can only arrange the technical drawings next week. .. sigh, too bad i can only do that in CAD/CAM lab.

New past time ...

The latest past time or fad of mine would be --> Professor hunting. Had been hunting for my supervising prof today, called him, waited in ambush at N2 office entrance but to no avail. Luckily met his other FYP student, then got the message that he would not be free today. Looks like i will continue the hunt tomorrow. =P

Time to start studying liao, but today rather hot and humid + stuffy cos the presence of wind eluded NTU, not even a gentle breeze .... so, not really in mood yet. heh ... but will be printing out all the notes today, since i have developed the bad habit of listening in lectures without notes last semester.

Mainly tired today, and still haven't strike toto 1st prize yet, so today, another lucky chap won 3 million dollars... Lets hope that he or she will use it wisely. =)

The difference between make up and no make up ......

Saw Roys' blog, and think the celebrity look-alike thingy is fun.. so i tried with 2 photos, one with make up, the other without... and i get .....

Without make-up, i look like some ang mor lang. 50% andy lau, 50% Kim Jong II... North Korea, here i come!

With make-up, i look like zar bor. And surprisingly, only Leslie Chung remained on this list. Jet Li andTony all new comers that i look like... haha... needs a HUGE pinch of salt for this one. But i guess it is fun. =P

Its a working Saturday!!

Today is a much free and easy day. Woke at 0855 this morning, quite some time didnt get to sleep so late already. Did the laundry, the bedsheets, cleaned up the room abit.

Going to work on the prof comm presentation slides and the QA project also, and finally back on the FYP report after taking a break for a day. Doing the references and appendices, which is quite a bother actually, so better start now so that my final draft will be ready before the dateline. Especially since i was late for the 1st draft..... =P

Added a new cute soft toy in the collection above the TV set. So it adds up to 4 of them. heh. The latest addition is the cute Doraemon with the uber cute expression. =D

As shown in the figure 1.1 (OMG !!! been writing too much reports!!) .. ha ha ha.. =P The 3 on the left are mine, and yes, that is a croaking frog, press on its stomach, it not only croaks, its cheeks will flash red too! the reason why i liked it? -> its croaking is better than my singing. Ee-or is Yongxi's, as u can see, his sole purpose in life is to watch TV (Ee-or, not yx, though i guess he wont mind that too .. hmmmmm).

Well.... its a wonderful morning for me, wishing all not only a wonderful morning, but also a wonderful weekend ahead!

Finally .. i did it!!!

At 0100 hrs, on this quiet wee hours of the morning of 23 March, i finally completed the 1st draft of my FYP report. Although there is still references and appendices to do up, the majority of the work, including formatting have been completed. *Phew*

In the end, the report spanned 81 pages, with approximately 64 pictures and about 10 graphs/tables, filling up 9,218 KB of my harddrive. Having settled at about 10,000 words, it would be the document with the most words i have written. And i hope to break this record once i get started on my book. heh ...

Well ... its time to get some good shut eye. =D

If all goes well ......

I should be able to compelte the FYP 1st draft report today, that is, if everything goes smoothly. Left one simultaion to run, hopefully can be completed in less than 2 hours. The conclusion is still 1/5 done, as i cant really conclude much without the results and 1 or 2 things more for detail design.

Currently at page 75, most of the formatting is done, not to mentin i broke 11,000 words... then again, those include the list of contents, abstract etc, so should be about 10,000+. Hopefully my draft is correct, then i wont need to re-do anything and can prepare for my exams. Maybe i should set a target for this coming examinations instead of just do my best.... hmmm....

Oh well, need pictures to for my blog, else so boring, all words like my report... haha

Progressing today

Yes... another day has passed, and it has been used to the max! Managed to do the correct FEA simulations and managed to obtain a video clip of the FEA simulation before the computer crashed!! Sadly, when i re-started the program and opened the saved file, some errors occured, which is when i realised that it is 344,748 kB in size!!! Think it will be my biggest saved file to date....

Managed to do till 67 pages and is just over 10,000 words... yes, 10,000 words is about the limit liao, still a few things to include and hopefully should be completed by tomorrow as the readings are almost all out. Then at least i can focus on the other 2 projects and 1 presentation which is coming up.

Unfortuately, tomorrow have quite a few hours of lectures to go to ... if only i can borrow a laptop for tomorrow, then porbably can sit in lecture and type at the same time, cos formatting and stuff... is tedious stuff.

Looks like i would be the last to compete my 1st draft!

Realised that i have some wrong calculations to my design this afternoon, thus have been fire fighting since then. Reached 63 pages just now, but after some editing, left with 61 pages and 9,254 words.

I guess after making the admendments to the report on 2 parts, only left with recommendations and conclusion which are almost the same stuff. As the admendments will have some pictures, maybe can add another 6 pages if i am lucky, and the conclusion will be another 3~4 pages as it will be all words again.

Did 5 pages of discussion actually..... and that will be 995 words and 1 picture. haha ... looks like will need to put in lots of pictures for the page numbers to be boosted up. Too bad they belong to the appendices cos i find no point putting so many pictures in the main report.

Oh ... still have some on detail report to do... maybe can reach 80. heh. Very late and tired... just had my brew of medicine and its time to konk off..... nitez to all!

So tired ...

Today spent the morning resting, then went to the wedding lunch of my cousin, Hui Hui. After the lunch, which ended at 4+, strolled over to Suntec City with my mom to meet up my brother and girlfren.

Walked about, had dinner and came back to hall, extremely tired. Couldnt type anything much, so vacuumed my room, bathed, and now... going to sleep. Since i will have to get busy tomorrow, might as well get a good rest today. =)

Oh .. realised that getting a good MC is very important on wedding lunch or dinner... cos today's one was quite off, so the guests at the tables, including me, were pretty lost most of the time....

Going back ... wedding lunch tomorrow..

Managed to reach 51 pages today, about 2 more chapters and 2 unfinished chapters to go. Have 7500 over words now, probably may breech the 10,000 words limit. But since the guidelines says around 10,000 words, it should be ok ba.

Well. my cousin is getting married tomorrow. Wishing her all the best! Looks like tomorrow is a family gathering day, since my grandmother had passed away, dont think we have so many family members gathering.

Got to go!! Cheerios to all, wishing everybody a great Sunday ahead, and yx to be less stressed. =P

Time to rest tonight, and cheong tomorrow...

Did about half of the required FEA today and the results, tomorrow is all about report typing but with exercise, cos will be swimming with roy and yx in the late morning. Not the dry kind, mind you, but the actual swim at SRC.

Had a meeting today with the team, will be forging ahead with the bet of the year, probably a big bet for everyone in the team too. A bet between personal achievement and fun against starting work and a career early. Am thankful for the team for supporting me, not from behind, but by my side as my friends. I hope that i will be able to bring them through all the way to the completion of the race in Adelaide.

Thinking about HRM and its perfect storm, i guess we are in the early to mid part of the movie, where, yet again, we will be making crucial choices. BUT the difference between the movie and real life is that, we WILL succeed. Somehow, i believe that everything will turn out well, and that the team have faith in themselves and each other. This period would be the 11th hour, the bleakest hour, the time just before dawn, the darkest hour... hang in there and move forward, and all will be well-rewarded with success and bright future.

Just read the news that Singapore is looking into clean energy, esp solar energy. So lets hope our project capture some positive news and we get funding. =)

=) for health, =/ for report

Was at NUH yesterday at 9 am, getting my blood drawn for tests. Didn't see any NUH graduates (cancer survivors) i know yesterday. Read the papers and caught a nap for a while while waiting for the blood results to be out.

Finally called into the room, as i sat down, my heart sank a bit as i saw new numbers on my file... 12mm x 12mm. So i asked the doc on how was my scan before i jump to any wrong conclusion. Thank goodness i asked before i freaked myself out. It turned out that that lump of 12m by 12mm in my lung is suspected to be scar tissue, or just a lump of dead stuff that is left behind as my initial tumor is considered very big, so it is not expected to disappear. Good news is that the lesions (smaller sized tumor ~ golf ball size) in my liver have disappeared.

As there are no markers for the good doc to detect early stages of relapse of cancer, he will be using that 12 by 12 mm as a reference and thus i will have another scan in 6 months time. Ironically, he was saying that taking too many CT scans will have adverse effects in another 20~ 30 years time. Looks like its time to invent another machine that can replace the CT scan but by using non-radioactive/toxic medium. Too bad MRI can't replace CT scan.

So ya. very happy, but tired after everything, so only managed to reach 39 pages yesterday. Today is FEA day and getting all the necessary pictures to boost my pages. heh.

*Time extended* for report and hopefully more than that. =)

Didn't do much today, although did reach 37 pages and 5800+ words yesterday =). Just formatted everything i had done so far for FYP report and sent it to Butler. Rather tired now, not really in the mode to do anything.

I guess it boils down to the Doc appointment tomorrow. Other than the usual blood test, which i had not done for the pass half a year, i will be getting the CT scan results back. It has been a long time since i had such a scan, the last one was actually almost 2 years back, about a year and 9 months ago, the PET scan. The scan that costs S$2,000 AFTER subsidy, where i get injected with radio-active glucose ... BUT it was happy results as it showed i was clear of cancer cells and thus i am in remission.

Feeling rather nervous now ... heh. Surprisingly, more nervous than i am for exams. hiaz ... somehow, exams are such a small thing compared to knowing the results for the CT scan. I guess it is perspective in life, and to think that this is something which i have rather limited control over. Lets list my lifestyle before cancer and now ...

Before --------------------------------->After
Dont smoke ---------------------------->Dont smoke
Dont drink ---------------------------->Dont drink
Less veg in diet --------->A lot more veg + fruits in diet
Good sleep -------------->Good sleep + more now
Stress in Navy (2 yrs after retirement)--->N.A. cos retired liao
Not much stress in Uni ----------->Not much stress now also
No mediation -------------->Mediation + relaxation
Lots of mahjong ->Still mahjonging (though dont think it is a factor)
Mountain biking --------->No stamina after chemo

So in conclusion, the things i have control over is diet, sleep and meditation. Lets hope it is enough and i can pass tomorrow's CT scan. heh. thus the battle to complete FYP report continues tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to the good news tomorrow. =)

A day of my life - boring ......

Did little on FYP report today... continued abit to page 30. Did a word count for fun and was pretty surprised i hit 5000 words liao.
Went to my fren's -Rei - opening ceremony at Prosper House today. LFI co. selling health products and beauty products too. Not bad to be having such a medium sized business. So was there from 2+ till 4, when the performances of Vincent Ng, Sean ended. Tay Ping Hui was there too... ok lar. too bad no female actress. =P
Went home, watched Bleach, read papers, chatted with mom... was rather tired by 6... but dragged my body to Clearwater where i played some tennis that surprisingly perked me up.
Had dinner with family, and then my bro drove me back (yeah!! thanks bro) .. watched final 16 minutes of FA cup tie between Chelsea and Tottemham... sucks... why did Cao Si get the draw. Chey!
Too tired to do any report writing.. or rather report typing, so played a few games of winning 11 with yongxi....and now writing this up to make myself realise that .... my life rather boring. =P
Off to sleep liao.. cos tomolo is report typing day again.... my ass is getting very charred.

Hard at work today ... finally ....

Spent most of today doing up the FYP report. Managed to reach 29 pages liao. Looks like about 15 pages a day on average.
Feeling feverish in the morning, which led to running nose in the afternoon. A worrying thought struck me cos i am due for the doc appointment this coming wed for checkup and see the results of the CT scan i had taken last wed. And the running nose and feverish feeling + constant dry mouth was what i had when i was diagnoised with cancer. Yes... i know it is over-reacting by a large margin, but i guess it is normal to feel fear.
The good news is, i got over it through positive thinking and ... well, just shrugging it off through some mental techniques i learnt from Meiyin from Shan You. Heh.. makes me feel brave. =P
Well, sleeping after i post this post... so as to keep my body well rested - fear has its benefits.

Wishing a good night to everyone !!!! Have a wonderful rest and feel re-charged tomorrow.

BK Ass - my flamed grilled buttocks....

As the saying goes... 火燒屁股了. Rushing my FYP report today, managed to get 15 pages of it up. So it is about 15% done ba, and the submission date is next tuesday. heh. lets hope i can make it.

Managed to pass my nano quiz on thurs and then off i went to Kbox dinner for Wheng's birthday. Quite worth it considering i ate lots of salmon sashimi which are surprisingly very good quality. The fried salmon cheek was also good. had mainly jap fare with some steamed brocolli with oyster sauce. The food + the K was good combi as the group of us took turns to sing and eat. heh.

Still no news from Butler on whether the project can go ahead anot. So no idea of whether we have funds, but i guess i am rather cool about that liao. Now just considering on whether to head to Europe to backpack again (obviously going to countries i not been to yet) if the project is a no-go. If the project is a go, will be going to Taiwan for a short trip with YX and frens after the FYP presentation. =)

Guess i really not much frens.. trying to think of peeps who may want to travel in Europe with me, but i guess the list is still pretty empty now. hiaz... Thinking of trying out States instead, but still have the mindset that it is rather dangerous over there. Hmmm... Guess Europe is rather safe as i been there twice, total of a short 60 odd days, so comparing with ZERO days in the States, i am more afraid of going States.

Well.. i hope i wont get the chance to go Europe and States this year as i really hope that the project is a GO! .. then i can pop over to Australia for the race, the casino, the diving, the roadtrip and all. heh.

Going to sleep now, wakey wakey early tomorrow morning to continue on the report. =P
