Down with flu for the pass 2~3 days... started out with the phenomena described as 'the curse of the golden tap' by yongxi. It progressively gotten worse and i ended up with headache, muscle aches, fever and a reduced version of the open tap.
Right now typing still with running nose, and i just recalled that clarinase is useful for such running nose; and i forgotten to buy it yesterday. Looks like more rest and fluids + the old faithful vitamin C for me today.
Rather tired out still, guess its because my body have been fighting the bug for the past 50+ hours, lets hope it clears it by today. Should be in recovery phrase liao.
Went to Shell site visit yesterday and though it is an eye opener, we only toured the exterior of the island. Thought we would be able to go into the operations room to see what the engineers are doing etc. I think being so inaccessible is a major 'off' factor as i would have to head down from Pasir Ris to Pasi Panjang ferry terminal every morning. And if working hours are before 0900, it would be a torture to wake up so early in the morning every single day.... so maybe the paycheck will not be able to cover this aspect. heh.
Think will just go for the recruitment thingy, could learn quite a lot from it according to what they say. IF i can make it pass the interview 1st.... and when i find time to submit the resume/online application 1st.

50 minutes before the year of the PIG !!
Well, i am still at home, one of the few times i was not called to deliver newspapers on the 1st day of CNY. Lucky to have a younger brother to take over duty from me. =P
Strange though, to be able to stay at home and not helping out. I guess its a habit to be down there helping out, but i also know why my parents dont want me to head down to deliver. Especially happy that my dad not asking me to go, and wanting me to rest at home.
I can still remember my primary, secondary and JC days when every weekend and holidays, my mom will try to persuade my dad to let me sleep at home instead of heading down to deliver papers at 4 am in the morning. And almost everytime (i do get some off days =P) my dad will be the one shouting/kicking me out of bed for me to help out in delivering the papers.
Now he is the one who would be reluctant to ask me to head down. =D Although i still help out, but rarely is the word to use these few years. Thank you Mom and Dad!! heh heh.. though they wont read my blog (cos i not writing in chinese), they know cos i find myself thanking them a lot nowadays as compared to a few times in previuos years.
So .... here i am, sitting in front of the computer, sincerely glad and happy that they love me, though they never said so. I guess this would be the asian culture that i do like. Suffering for loved ones are never said out loud. it is the you know i know, we know kind of stuff. Warms the heart. =)
Its 2 years after my paternal grandmother passed away (3 in lunar terms), thus we can celebrate CNY this year. I am wearing my paternal grandmother's ring now, a special meaning to me. She passed away on the day i was hospitalised for cancer treatment. Somehow it felt that she passed on to save me. Though most probably is coincedence but well.... i guess i'm some how more sentimental? heh ... Thank you 'Por por' !!
Well... its the end of a great year, and though tears have swelled up in my eyes now as i type, its not tears of sadness, but of grateful-ness, happiness and of hope. That i will carry on life with such positive thinking, drive and aim. Results though important, but i feel that the process, the friendship, the care and love of the people around me that makes me so happy.
Thank you my wonderful family and friends, thank you for being there! Wishing all of you a Happy and prosperous new year! Great health, and wealth and love in this year of the Pig!

CNY is coming to town ! =D
Just switched to new blogger, forced to actually, so thought something when wrong with my cbox, so tested with some messages. Well, it went smoothly as promised, so not that bad.
Chinese new year is coming!! Another year passed, rather much in a flash. Going to get busy pretty soon, so hopefully settle my project and resume assignment tomorrow. More or less completed, left the finishing touches. Thus i will be left with one group project - presentation for prof comm, and one yet to be announced QA group project. Maybe some more on the way, but lets not worry about that yet. Oh!! Nano quiz too. Looks like its time to start studying soon.
Many thoughts as CNY arrives. i think i am getting WAy too sentimental liao, but i guess i am okay with that. =P I guess my thoughts are the 'usual' ones nowadays liao. Being thankful that i'm still in existance, happy and healthy. Especially to my family, relatives and all my friends. =D
How i wish i can break the chinese culture of not hugging family and friends. How i wish i can overcome the awkward feeling that both parties get when i attempt to hug people. Managed to hug my mom and a few friends. =) Felt so good to hug my mom and thank her for the efforts she went through to take care of me back then.
Well, better get some shut eye, maybe tomorrow morning can swim a few laps before heading down to the cad lab, now known as the 天天來 lab.

Haha .. new specs on the way
Went to Katong Shopping Centre today, Jamco Optical, where i had great service and good price for my specs and shades. Got myself a new pair of nose pads free!! and a new pair of glasses too!
Did realise that my present pair of black specs is flaking off paint here and there but didnt realise that i bought them in 2001 until i read my card at the shop. S$90 that lasted me 5 years, it is time for it to be retired to be the 'for sports use' specs. And i think auntie would be pleased to have me buying new specs, as it will mean that she would expect me in another 4~5 years time!!
Really weird when trying out the new specs, choosing took some time but luckily, due to my rather broad face, only a few designs available for me. Total of abt 6~7 options (some rather similar), i was comfortable with 2. And had to get the auntie's opinion before deciding on one. In a sense she was right, the one that she rejected was because it had similar shape with the current specs, except that it is silver-chrome in colour.
Since i can only see myself with the new specs in the mirror close to me, i wonder how i would look like from far. Lets hope i can recognise myself with the new specs. =P

Priorities ....
Semester break is coming and study wise, done nothing much. Luckily, although i have 6 modules, i have only 1 quiz coming up. Unfortuately, it is going to be one tough quiz, the infamous nanotechnology module + instead of quizzes, i have a few projects coming up.
As they say, when it starts to get busy, it will be really packed. 'The calm before the storm' would be appropriate. Having sailed through a few storms, uber rough seas, the question will be: am i prepared enough for the storm? is the team prepared for the storm?
i guess being older allows me slightly more experience and in navy = super high stress experience. So i guess i would be able to make it, hopefully i will be able to guide the team through too. Right now, still short of money, and i hope we could get some sponsorship next week, cos we probably need to wait for red tape to clear before we get any money, which means it will be a month later. Talk about very tight schedule.
Which means i will be juggling 3/4 projects, quiz and fyp at the same time. =P

Swam today + stupid specs shops
Went for a morning swim today, after a long break. Think i last swam in Dec.. or early Jan. Time to work towards a better shape. hahaha Tomolo morning will be heading down to swim again. Good exercise and clears the mind too!
My specs nose pads spolit and wanted to buy replacements. Went down to JP, nanyang optical and the other one is capitol optical i think. Quoted $5 for a pair of replacements, $5!!! i was like 'HUH !! 5 dollars?!?? ridiculous. Thanks for the offer' and left the shops. I change my nose pads abt once to twice a year. From $0.50 a few years back, to $2 last year... now it costs $5 ??? for the same small lousy pair of silicon (as they claim) or plastic pieces!!! It is way too much liao. Looks like the east is still more affordable. For $5, i can take a bus down to katong Shopping Centre to buy/get for free and back home, costing lass than $5. Just doesnt feel right that it is now $5... so what is the limit? $10 for a pair of nose pads? blood sucking businessmen.

photo shoot + visualisation project + NEW high score vs YX
Today went for the year book graduation shoot, prepared shirt and tie so that can use for my resume too! Yes... cheapo. i know, but what the heck. Wont get better looking if i spend $$ to shoot professionally anyway.
The 4 of us took turns in the 2 long sleeve shirts and 2 different ties too! So no one will realise that we used the same shirts. =P
Today obtained better results against YX in table tennis, 2 games i lost 8-11 and the final game i lost 9-11. So close. hopefully before long, he can play with max skill with me. Then again, i think will be quite some time to go. Thanks for being my shi fu, YX! =D

Our project so far....
Well, many things are tied down, several suppliers of different components have been sourced and awaiting funds to flow in before we begin purchase of critical systems which will take the longest time to arrive.
A sneak preview of how the solar car will look like, but there will be many iterations to go as we finalise our design to achieve better aerodynamics, safety etc.
Realised that i didn't spend much time studying this semester, mainly thinking and working on the solar car project with the team. The team is pulling together and getting closer than before. That is what i am rather pleased about. Synergy is building up as team members are seeing the bigger picture, understanding the requirements of other systems.
Be it that there will be different working styles from everyone, but i hope that everyone can grow and bond together to achieve that. For me, i am learning how to do guide and lead the team with what i know and have. Lets hope i am doing an ok job so far.

Its a new week.... many things to tie down, to settle. Hopefully everyhing goes smoothly, thats what I will need. Many things to update, but rather tired already, so maybe tomorrow then.
Managed to make a picture of the ongoings for the solar cell testing, where we tried out different coating for the solar cells to determine if the epoxy will prevent it from breaking into bits..

Singapore wins with my maiden visit to National Stadium!!
Just came back from the exciting atmosphere of the National Stadium where Singapore national soccer team won!!! Hahah... my first visit there for a soccer match, participated in the kallang wave and it was fun and exciting!!!
Plenty of excitment esp the last few minutes where the Thai team ran off to the sidelines disputing the referee's decision. =P So un-pro.... to think we were hungary and shouted, boo-ed and kallang waved to waste time.
