Visited Dr Fong this morning as my gastric continued to give me problems for the past week. =/ Hopefully will recover soon, else going to be bloated and in discomfort for a long time.
Well, my date of transfer is fixed at 16 Jun, quite sad to leave Seraya, but at the same time relieved. So a bit tacky ba. As i learn more about rotating equipment and reliability issues, it is definitely very interesting and challenging but at the same time, realised that there is a lot more knowledge out there which I have yet to learn. Too bad have to stop at this point, but still, glad that i have done some improvements to Seraya before i am transferred out. =)
By chance, going with NTU anglers club to malaysia for fishing on 7 and 8th Jun, as i got into contact with Houyi during CCHS meet up. =) So i guess that will serve as a short break before i get busy learning new stuff as a trading operator.

Weak, i am. Strong, i must become.
After 2 days of fever, i finally when to visit the Doctor (must have missed a few days of appples, that's why =P). From the doc, it may be possible that it started out from a viral infection aka. cold/flu, to be a bacteria infection. Was finally okay by yesterday evening. =) But still have to complete the course of antibiotics.
Things over at school is still slow, with nothing done this week as materials are not in yet. Faced with the possibility that yx will not be able to help out as much is a big blow to the project, coupled with me having to proceed for the Shell Gourami Challenge, odds are stretched rather thin, not to mention manpower. =/
Planning as much as i can now for the next few week, which are pretty crucial. But i guess by Sep 20, the answer to whether we can proceed for WSC in Australia will be pretty obvious. Nonetheless, still learnt a lot during this period of time, not to mention strengthening valuable friendships and having a good time. =D This doesn't mean that i will be giving up on the idea of going for WSC though. Will push ahead until the very last second, even extend the deadline if possible. At most, the logistics company will hate my guts.... =P

Down with flu .... hiaz.. =P
Came back early from school yesterday as i was feeling unwell. Somehow felt my body getting tired over fighting some bugs, probably cold or flu virus. Reached home about 5.30 pm and started feeling feverish. Thank goodness i 'listened' to my body and headed back to rest. After having early dinner, went to sleep with 2 panadol pills in my stomach as my temperature reached 37.8.
Started to feel weak through the night as my immune system fought back, and woke up several times in the night, and i took another 2 pills around 3~4 o'clock in the morning. Strangely, for the moments that i was awake, i reflected back to the times when i was undergoing chemotherapy and was having fever. Back then, i felt a lot worse with constant perspiration (change of clothes every hour as it got soaked) and pain too. Amazing how the mind can 'forget' such terrible experiences and i get to recall them when i am in a similar situation, abeit a much better situation. In a sense, felt very much alive as my body ached and complained. Without darkness, there is no light, without the suffering of being sick, one forgets the joy of being healthy. Not that i want everyone to be sick though. =P I wish everyone to be healthy and happy, with some small short bouts of minor illness once in a while to boost their immune systems. heh.
Just had dinner, now perspiring (yeah!) as i take it as a sign that my fever is breaking for now. Cos my temperature still rises intermittently. =P I spent the day, mainly in bed, sometimes at the computer terminal and sadly, no PS2 for me as i left it at Wheng's place. Doh! Hope i get well by tomorrow, then can head down to NTU to work on the solar car.

Health stats down today
Spent today at home, resting and sleeping in a bid to maintain healthy. Received good news today as i was selected for the second interview with Shell (#1). Better news is that for second interview, it will be joining the Gourami Business Challenge which is a 5 day thingy to be held in Penang!!! Quickly asked Grace (the HR personnel who called me) if it will be fully paid for and.. heh heh.. the answer is 'yes' (#2)!!
Sold of some more of my stocks today as the market retreated. Made some losses, but thankfully, gains far out-strip losses so far(#3). Better be cautious so as to maintain my profit margins. Also tinkering with design for my secret surprise for the solar car team. Hmmmm.... some already know about a surprise, but its still a secret. And yes, yongxi, if you are reading this, it is a secret that must not be told. 'Duh!'
Hiaz.... although am selected for gourami challenge, which is a happy event, unfortunately, it would mean that i may miss a few days of working on the solar car in Sept. Feel bad, but hmmm... both are once in a lifetime thingy, i guess a few days away wont be that bad. As butler mentioned, the team will carry on as i have to let go in a few months time, plus... most of the time, i am redundant anyway. =P
Heard news from saraker that her husband's colleague's wife was diagnosed with lymphoma, stage 4, and undergoing treatment, gave her my number and email to contact me if they want to, and i wish she will fight and win over the stupid cancer cells and get well soon.

How i gained weight during chemo - for paced =)
Was thinking back on how i managed to gain weight during chemotherapy after paced asked about it. Well... i remembered the nurses telling me that one of the challenges was that food will taste weird, vomiting and lost of appetite during chemo, however, food is what the body needs for it to recover from the chemo shots. Furthermore, unfortunately for me, the anti-vomiting pills was not really effective for me. Thus i vomit rather freely when i had the shots.
To ensure that my body get enough energy to fight the cancer cells, i typically have 6 FULL meals a day (though for the chemo period 4~7 days i would vomit out a lot) plus supplement liquid diet (the brand is 'Ensure' - which i puke out too, but it tastes better when puking cos it is chocolate =P). Even after the 'vomiting' period, i would be taking in lots of food + freshly blended fruits(DIY at home by me, or my mom when i am too weak)consisting of apples, pears (cooling for body), GUAVA (very good source of vitamins). Blended cos drinking it is faster and enable me to take in larger quantities of fruits (else how to consume 3 apples, 2 guavas and 2 pears in 5 mins) + easier to puke out too.
Partially ate so much as the chemo drugs also destroy the stomach lining, reducing its ability to absorb nutrients, vitamins etc. Thinking along that line, i decided to eat all day so that even with reduced ability, my stomach can absorb as much if i eat almost all the time.
But i would guess the main cause of the weight gain may be the fact that after chemo, i have no appetite for chinese food, but am ok with fried stuff, so it was either western food, KFC, Mac or sometimes BK for every meal for a few days in a row during the 'vomiting' period. Can still remember my birthday in 2004 when i just had chemo and everyone came over to accompany me. I was still puking out my fillet-o-fish i had for early lunch when friends arrived with KFC for my late lunch. Thank goodness i was able to be discrete about it. heh. Was very touched cos shuihui n gang had baked a cake for me but i had only a bite as it was not 'freshly baked' thus i could not eat it on doctors orders.
So i guess.... i gained 10 kgs cos i ate a LOT of food... haha. btw, i mastered the 最高境界 of bulimic people during that time, as i could just vomit when i want to, even after i recovered. =P

Busy and sick.... but not busily sick.
The few days after convo day (wed) were busy days, from settling solar car stuff, attending EEE convocation and photo taking, to MAE grad dinner and activities with John before he flies back to New York. Unfortunately, i fell sick on Sunday and subsequently both Monday and Tuesday too.
Right now... i probably have recovered about 70% liao. But still feeling tired and 'energy-less'. Lots of photos with me, but not much time.. actually strength to post it up. I tried to write this post since this morning, but failed as i got back to sleep instead. =P
Still, am pretty happy that i had managed to meet yx, kx, bev and the star -> John, on both Sunday and Monday. Sunday was while they were giving John a crash course on mahjong and Monday for both lunch and dinner + farewell at Changi Airport. Although it was a short 2 months, but one can see that John had been 'Singaporeanised' to a certain degree.. how much? have to wait for updates of photo evidence when i feel much better.

i have high hemogoblin count
Went for doctor's appointment today and had a full blood count. Today's blood report was a bit late, so did not get to see my liver panel (a list of substance that can determine the health of the liver).
My hemoglobin was above normal, and the doc went... 'are u a smoker?' I was like. . hahaha .. me? a smoker? i avoid smoke like plague. =P So he went back to check my previous results, and looks like i have high hemoglobin count all along. so.. phew!
As for the project, things are moving on, more things are getting done and the possibility of the completion of the car is looking good. The present biggest hurdle is to order the hub motor asap. Hope that a surprise appears and we can breach that hurdle and move on to many smaller ones. =)

fever, fever, go away....
Very stubborn flu bug. Still feverish. About 4~5 days liao, come on immune system!! Time to rally and defeat this stupid bug.
Unfortuately, the 8 days advantage for preparing for my last paper was slundered due to the stupid flu bug. Now left with 3.5 days to study, and that includes one day at home for mom's birthday. =/
Well, going to sleep now, + drink ge geng tang. I wanna recover by tomorrow!! I WILL recover by tomorrow and be in the pink of health!!! =D
I will be healthy !!!!! and wishing best of health to everyone too!!! (me included. =P)

still sick .. =/
In hall now, still sick so decided not to go library where the airconditioning is rather powerful. Feeling a lot better though and hopefully recover by this evening. Getting lots of fluids and vitamin C and ample rest is already obtained.
Reading up notes now, its time to start preparing for the last paper.
4 years in NTU liao, the road had been a long one, since i had done badly for my 1st 'A' levels exam. Signed on navy and then having to re-take 'A' levels again. Had met and formed friendship among quite a few peeps in MAE and EEE. Though not a lot of friends, i believe that we will be communicating long after our graduation from NTU.
They do say that its difficult to find true friends while working, i found about 15~20 of them in the navy. =) And in NTU, it is about the same number of peeps but slightly more activity friends, so i guess its rather 'standard' for me. I feel so lucky. =)
Wondering whats out there for me when i grad. I guess being older and with medical history will make it slightly more challenging to get a job, i hope my luck will hold and i get to do something i like. Too bad cant go back to navy liao...had fun there, guess its almost time to find a new playing field for me to roam.

down for the past 2 days .. i will get well soon. =P
Having flu for the past 2 days, luckily not having exams these few days. Hopefully can recover by tomorrow. =P
Had dinner with my Navy friends on tues night at Wuruka Marina Square, good food, and even better company. =D Apparantly 2 chaps got scheme C upgrades, thus i got a free meal and also a ride back to NTU after dinner. Thanks Minhan! =) Still very glad to be in the loop, after leaving the navy for ... 4 years? heh. =)
Went out to JP for lunch today, and caught the movie 'Wild Hogs' with yx, roy and dawn. Not to mention a couple of Daytona races too! Duh!! just remembered i forgotten to buy fire starters to brew my herbs.... guess i have to go somewhere to buy tomorrow then. Hopefully nanyang mart have, then no need to go out and waste time.. cos i have not started studying for my final paper yet. =P

Headaches today ...
Spent the day reading, and sleeping and reading, and sleep again over and over. Today my head rather 'heavy', thus i onli managed to read parts of my notes and had to sleep... until in the evening when headaches makes an appearance, and i decided to pop ONE panadol to sooth it.
So .. wasted a day, rather unproductive... but tomorrow will be the day to chiong visualisation and visual alone as i have to master it tomorrow, else there wont be much time to study for it on tues due to the morning and evening papers.
Went to makan with dawn's parents again, as they drove the bunch of us, dawn, roy and yongxi + me out. Ate at west coast mkt, the vegetarian there not bad, but still lose to aunty's. Came back, watched a boring pool vs manC which ended in a draw... =P
Well . .that's all ... time for shut eye liao.

Flu for the pass 2~3 days ....
Down with flu for the pass 2~3 days... started out with the phenomena described as 'the curse of the golden tap' by yongxi. It progressively gotten worse and i ended up with headache, muscle aches, fever and a reduced version of the open tap.
Right now typing still with running nose, and i just recalled that clarinase is useful for such running nose; and i forgotten to buy it yesterday. Looks like more rest and fluids + the old faithful vitamin C for me today.
Rather tired out still, guess its because my body have been fighting the bug for the past 50+ hours, lets hope it clears it by today. Should be in recovery phrase liao.
Went to Shell site visit yesterday and though it is an eye opener, we only toured the exterior of the island. Thought we would be able to go into the operations room to see what the engineers are doing etc. I think being so inaccessible is a major 'off' factor as i would have to head down from Pasir Ris to Pasi Panjang ferry terminal every morning. And if working hours are before 0900, it would be a torture to wake up so early in the morning every single day.... so maybe the paycheck will not be able to cover this aspect. heh.
Think will just go for the recruitment thingy, could learn quite a lot from it according to what they say. IF i can make it pass the interview 1st.... and when i find time to submit the resume/online application 1st.

going for another scan...
Had my medical check up this morning. Got to know that my doctor, Dr Noorainun, had left NUH. So met a new doctor today, Dr Ng. Did the usual checks, but found my stomach was 'harder' than usual.
I asked if the 'hardness' was due to my fats from my beer belly ... unfortuately, he replied that fats are normally soft. So an ultrasound scan was scheduled for me next monday morning, cos a CT scan would be damaging due to radiation....
Although it probably will show nothing, but am worried nonetheless. It will be my third ultrasound i will be undergoing, but will be the 1st time i will be scanned on the stomach, on the left side. Think he is focusing on the liver and spleen? hmm... cant really chat with him, Dr Noorainun was much more approachable, giving me info on what is happening and why. hiazz...
Well, lets hope all goes well. Will continue with my schedule as normal and hope for the best and to stay healthy!! =) positive thinking is of utmost importance. =D

My second ultrasound experience
Visited CGH's Sports Medicine Centre today to check on my feet. I suspect that the pain in my tendons is due to my flat feet. The doc checked and yes, i have flat foot on both feet. Luckily it is not THAT serious.... BUT i seem to have symptoms of foot problems which arises due to flat foot.
The doc did a series of tests on my feet. It was rather interesting cos he knows which part of my foot hurts. Best part was when he mentioned ... 'you sprained your left ankle recently?' I was like 'Huh? that was like 5-6 weeks ago.. i thought recovered liao?' He smiled and pressed down on the spot ... ' pain right?'
So that led to my feet being ultrasound-ed. He showed me the inflammation of the tendons, and cos i have flat foot, that particular tendon will take a long time to heal. So .. no more jogging for me for the next few months. Have to go back again make my customised orthotics, which is a pair of insoles to support my arch/tendon of my feet. This should prevent other foot problems from cropping up.
If only i had the knowledge that having flat foot may lead to so much problems, i would have gone for this when i was in the Navy back then. =P
