After being advised to moderate expectations for 2008 bonus since a few months back, i have been wondering what to buy for myself as a 'reward' while saving up the rest for a rainy day.
As i thought about it, i realised that i have quite a few items i need to look at.
1st thing is.... clothes. We have a casual wear Friday and my colleagues have realised that i have been wearing the NTU collar tee every other Friday, and after purchasing CNY clothes, I am wearing the NTU collar tee once every 4 weeks. =P As for long sleeve shirts, i am rotating among 5 of them for a 4 day office wear week. After 10 months on office wear job, i am starting to get bored with what i wear. hahaha.. something which i didnt expect to happen to me.
2nd thing is... pants and shoes, pants-wise should be okay as i upgraded to 3 pairs by CNY and still with one pair of shoes though. Wondering what is the life span of shoes as i dont want my shoes to open up crocodile style on a Monday morning, but buying another pair of shoes just in case seems expensive though. hmmmm...
Well, those mentioned above are more of needs rather than wants, and i finally found something that i WANTED to buy, a luxury item which have became very affordable recently. Or rather, i realised that they are rather affordable recently thanks to a DJ on 93.3FM. He was using a new toothbrush recently and only came to realise that it is an electric that vibrates when he accidentally pressed a button........ we, wheng and i were in the car, burst into laughter after hearing that. I was like, huh? buying something that expensive and bulky and he didnt know that it is electric?
Filled with curiosity, on Friday after lunch, i went hunting for electric toothbrushes in the cold storage and oh..... the new models are relatively cheap at $13+ for colgate (there is the sponge bob for kids, if only they have the sponge bob for adults too) to $25~40 range for Oral-B. As usual, i couldn't decide on the spot so opted for more research before buying. And yesterday night we went to NTUC at the airport and found more models of electric toothbrush and found the one which the DJ could have bought - the Oral-B Pulsar - it is the only model so far without a bulky handle and at $9+, it doesn't give the impression that it is electric, so i guess it might have fooled the DJ as it might have been a gift to him.
So in short, after one short day of 'research', i guess i would be buying the Colgate model at $13+ as a reward to myself, a bonus buy, hopefully have offer and i can get it for cheaper. =P
Wonder what to look out for next year, but i guess have to wait till next year to find out. heh heh heh.
