Heading out for taiwan tomolo

Heading out for taiwan tomorrow with 6 friends. Flying off to Taipei and then tour to hualien and taichung and taipei. A long time since i step foot on taiwan liao, last was there in 2002 when i sailed to Kaoshiung.

a long week ...

Finally got down to blog, after a pretty tiring week. My god grandmother passed away last Friday, and i went to the wake everyday except Monday. Met up with my god brothers and sister, not to mention the aunts and uncles whom i seldom meet since we shifted out of Bedok North. Was closer to my god mother and the 2 younger brothers and can still remember my god grandmother pretty well.

She passed away at a ripe old age of 81. =) Overheard my mom chatting with her sis on the fact that i wasnt able to attend my own grandparents' funerals (I was only 3 when my grandfather passed on - too young to know anything, one can only join in if above age of 4 and i was undergoing chemotherapy during my grandmother's funeral 2 years back, so couldn't attend too) but was able to attend both my god grandparents' funerals. i guess this is fate ba. Now thinking that my grandmother's funeral would had been a very grand affair, as she has over seventy direct next of kin. Missed my grandmother quite a bit, i guess that's why i took to wear her ring. She left 2 rings actually, one for each daughter-in-law, and my mom randomly picked and obtained the gold ring while the diamond ring went to my aunt. I guess i could call it luck, cos i dont mind wearing the gold ring but definately NOT the diamond ring cos its obviously for ladies.

i guess family affairs are starting to take centre stage in my life, although i have spent more time with family and friends, it never seems enough. Coupled with the fact that everyone have their own work and play to balance with, its harder to meet up nowadays. my holiday over the past 4 years is almost over liao.... hiaz... time to relearn how to balance work and play pretty soon. Lucky for the 4 month extension of holiday due to the solar car, but i guess i will be pretty broke by then. =P

Vivocity !!!

Finally went to Vivocity with my gf today. Yes, after so long, which i guess EVERYBODY had been there liao, except me, who went there for the 1st time. SUPER big, similar to mid-valley in KL. Nothing much interesting except that for Daiso, the japanese $2 shop (of which the rubber glue i was looking for was out of stock) and GAP, which i spotted the casual jacket (blazer) which looks good on me.

At first the $145 price tag looks expensive, until we reached the ladies demin section, where a pair super short jeans costs $109. Then in retrospect, the blazer seems a lot cheaper.... for the amount of material is has. Tempting to buy the jacket, right now only can think of using it to go for wedding dinners, my ONLY red china collar shirt is TOO over used. Since the previous Chinese New Year in 2006 till now... think everyone will know that i ONLY have that shirt. Hiaz.... With the jacket, i only need to change the inside T-shirt. heh. Maybe wait for end of season sale or Great Singapore Sale.... 20% off would be nice. =)

Not much news on purchase of stuff for solar car, updated by KX about the batteries but....... butler went silent again. =P But i guess its a 2 days off for me.

Its all over.... for most.

Had completed my presentation yesterday. Felt that it went pretty well, as my presentation went without any hitches, and that the moderator was a good guy. Not much of big mistakes made by me.. apparantly. Looks like i can approach him in regards to using Visual Nastran for future FEA simulations as he teaches peeps on how to use that software. Thank goodness we went to find out the basics of the software and luckily, no need the maths.

All members of the team had their presentations, except for Kai Xin, which was changed to later today as her moderator was ill yesterday. Looks like i will be poping back to NTU later on. Hopefully all goes well for her presentation and she can obtain the good grade she deserves. =)

Looks like i can only head down to Vivocity tomorrow. Hopefully Mom can come along too.... think even my mom went to vivocity before. Looks like i have no life. =P

Decided to 'rest' for today and tomorrow, although i am still thinking about the solar car project , almost constantly. Have to keep at it as its going to be a tight affair. 2 month wait for the parts to arrive, 1 month to fix everything up. its going to be close, very close. Talk about challenging.... i guess its now about keeping faith and putting in my best, to motivate and have everyone put in their best of efforts and i believe we will be on our way to Australia in Oct.

Awaiting FYP presentation

As i wait here in my room for time to pass, i wonder what it would be like during my presentation. Hmmm .... its been a long time since any major presentation. Hopefully i wont get too nervous... hahaha. Although i feel quite excited really, to be able to feel nervous and stuff. Will need to calm my nerves before the start. Had prepared enough to stay cool... i hope.

Maybe as i had sat in for quite a number of presentations of my friends, feel nervous liao, but i guess it boils down to whether the moderator is in a bad mood, and whether one have enough knowledge of one's work.

Anyway, will be busy hopping around my team mates and friends' presentations later.. before and after my presentation. =P

Resting at home

Returned home on Sat for dinner with family, then went for mahjong session. Heh heh.. its been a long time off the game liao, finally have a chance to play again. Although with the solar car project in tight schedule, looks like chances of playing would be rather limited these few months.

Slept till now, waking up for breakfast and nope, still yet to have lunch. Going off for tea break and buying some 4D numbers in a while at the neighbourhood centre nearby. Still having quite a number of plans and intentions for the solar car and thinking of which route to proceed on would be the best. hmmm... will have to come up with the options, keep the team in the loop (probabaly a vote) and discuss with Butler. I guess all will be busy with the upcoming FYP presentation next week.

Guess for me, i better get the slides up asap too! Concept in the mind is not good enough. =P

Lobo day wif good news. =)

Stayed up to watch Man U vs AC Milan in the wee hours of the morning, good match it was. Milan was fantastic while man u was rather subtued so... a bit one sided. I think i slept at 4+ ... so woke up at 930 in the morning. heh heh... no need to study liao.

Nua the entire day, supposed to do up presentation slides, but only manage to do up a bit.... guess i will complete it tomorrow then. Will start to get busy with the solar car tomorrow... and next week, although i planning to give the team a week's rest from exams, and start on 14th May. hmm...

Good news is that we will get SGD 100k upfront to buy the time critical components, thus will be roping in help to call the japanese companies tomorrow.... hopefully she is free to help though. so excited... heh heh. =P

Think will be rather stressed, too many things to consider, i hope the team can expand and with adequate man-power, we should be able to get the car up and running in time.

Completed my examinations for my degree =)

Today is a happy day, i took my final paper in NTU, MP 4004, nanotechnology. Had actually mugged till 2 am last night, and woke up at 830 this morning to continue studying. Luckily my efforts paid off, good that i created higher chances of me getting lucky. =D

Went to see Butler to check on FYP presentation timing and solar car matters. Unfortuately, we won't be doing a group presentation, so its one by one on different timings. Good news is that we will have same slides for the front portions... or rather if we want to.

Things are looking up, heh heh, they are looking at funding of up to half a million dollars.... sweeet! So i guess i wont be looking for a job anytime soon... its solar car all the way !!!

And yeah!!!! still cant get over the wonderful feeling of completing my papers. Half way through the 4004 paper, after completing the 1st 2 questions... i was like.. 'yes! i can graduate liao!!' . then i looked at question 3... oops.. 10 marks dunno how to do, so i did question 4 before tackling question 3 last. So... although not very sure if i can get above a B, but dont really care... was smiling like an idiot while doing the paper.

One goal in life achieved, to complete my degree in 4 years... and hopefully can get 2nd upper too! That will be known only in mid-June. heh heh. But now, lets push on another dream ... to race the solar car in Australia !!!
